# Protocol overview

> The Shores components and how they fit together.

## Background

Shores brings real property lending onchain without moving the loans onchain. Loans are originated, documented and serviced offchain under local law. Deposits, the vault token (shUSD), staking and yield distribution live onchain on Robinhood Chain.

## Components

| Component | What it does |
| - | - |
| Vault (one per cell) | Issues shUSD. Verified-only minting at 1.00 at launch, then at NAV. No redemption function |
| Permission manager | Controls which addresses can mint and stake |
| Staking contract | Tracks staked shUSD with time-weighted accounting and credits the monthly yield |
| NAV and reporting | Updates value per token from the offchain loan book |
| Points | Calculated offchain; claimed onchain |
