# KYC

> Identity checks for depositors and borrowers.

Shores performs identity checks on every depositor and borrower.

## Depositors

Before a wallet can mint or stake shUSD:

1. Identity verification for individuals; for entities, business verification including beneficial owners. \[TBD: confirm scope]
2. Sanctions screening.
3. Wallet screening for risk factors. Wallets that fail screening cannot mint or stake.
4. Tax self-certification. \[TBD: confirm CRS/FATCA wording]

## Borrowers
